There are no qualifications as such in the professional make-up artist industry, it is your portfolio and professional conduct that will get you more work. The HMA is aware of this fact through our own artists experience and fill the gap so many colleges have by providing valuable advice for up to 6 months after the course has ended.
Does your academy cater for international students?
Yes we take students on an international basis. We will need students to have a good understanding of the English language to participate to thier full potential
What is the youngest age of your students and the oldest?
Age is not an issue talent is the issue at HMA. We do need a minimum age of 17/18
Data Protection Act
The Hoxton Make-up Academy abides by all codes of conduct to the official data protection act.
Terms and Conditions:
Payment
30% will be required to hold your place with us at The Holton Make-up Academy. The final 70% will be required two weeks before your course begins as the latest date. Students cannot be accepted onto the course if full payment has not been received on course commencement.
Deposit
Deposits are non refundable but can be transferred to another course on the HMA Calendar.
Attendance.
Unfortunately if a student becomes ill or for any reason is unable to attend the course once final confirmation and payment has been made we cannot refund the fee. You will not be able to transfer to another course if you have part completed the course. If you failed to attend at all for extenuating circumstances you can transfer to another course.
HMA does reserve the right to not issue a HMA certificate if there was prolonged absence or if we feel the standard reached does not reflect the standard of teaching given.
We do recommend that absence for special occasions, religious holidays be considered carefully as we cannot provide catch up sessions to anything that will be missed.
The HMA Mentor Programme
The HMA Mentor programme is included in your fee. The mentor process is stated clearly on the site and will involve
Business Strategy Meeting:
Face to face initial meeting discussing an overview of the best way to plan the first six months of your career.
Interactive Advice:
Once a week we will answer emails to help further advise you with any questions you may have.
Bi- Monthly Meeting:
Once every two months we shall see you face to face for a one hour meeting.
Although this mentor programme is a very generous facility we cannot donate 24 hours of our time to mentoring. This is a structured programme and cannot include unscheduled phone calls or emails….
The instructions and advice are to be actioned by yourself and not on your behalf by your tutor or mentor.
Placements and Assisting.
HMA will endeavour to help you by recommending you for assisting when approached. We cannot guarantee placements or assisting as this would be unprofessional of any college to do so. Opportunities need to suit the student they are given to thus we need to wait for those opportunities to arise. This is all a question of timing.
HMA cannot be held responsible for any allergic reactions to product use whilst on the course or after the course has been completed. As an active make-up artist on the course you are volunteering to personally experiment with product use and thus must accept your responsibility.
The student must still notify the academy of any allergic or medical conditions.
Removal of HMA Goods.
HMA will provide a make-up kit for you to use in your studies. If you are found to have removed any of the make-up products that belong to The Hoxton Make-up Academy you will be prosecuted and removed from the course without refund.
Students will be expelled and no funds refunded if any damage is knowingly caused to HMA property. Any damage caused will also be liable to the student and charged accordingly.
End of Course Photo shoot
HMA will provide a photo shoot for you if you are taking part in the fully comprehensive course. This will provide you with two images re-touched on disk (one natural and one fashion) by our industry photographer. You will print your own images. We recommend you got to METRO who can advise on calibration and cropping.
The final selection of shots is up to the head tutors. We cannot provide further selections of shots or further re-touching of the shots once forwarded to you.
Images are NOT to be used for advertising purposes. HMA provides top end models and facilities with the respect and agreement of the suppliers that these images remain for the use of your portfolios ONLY. Or as part of an online book, for social networking. They are NOT to be used for business cards, leaflets or to be used by any other parties. If this is found to be the case it will be yourself personally who will be liable for the full modelling fee which can run into thousands of pounds and you are likely to be pursued legally for break of contractual agreement.
If a student is found to be abusive or disruptive on the course, the academy has the right to terminate their class room sessions without further obligation and no refund will be issued.
Location or Course Date Change.
Guest tutors
You will be notified by email of your head tutors once on the course. We hold the right to further add to guest tutors in place of head tutors.
Personal Possessions
The academy cannot accept any responsibility for your own possessions that are brought onto the academy premises. It is your responsibility to look after your own belongings and equipment.
